The American Marketing Association has defined a brand as:

“A Name, term, design, symbol, or any other feature that identifies one seller’s good or service as distinct from those of other sellers.”

Your brand is an extension of your business and reflects your company’s image. Logos, designs, company taglines, and even a company’s name can all be considered a part of branding. Your company’s brand also includes values, emotions, and what people associate with a company, its executives, and products.

  • What are your company’s values?
  • What do they represent?
  • How do you want people to communicate with you?

Get to know your customers and learn to communicate in a fashion that people identify as unique to your brand compared to competitors.

Invest time in creating your logo.

Logos are created to help us identify and differentiate between various brands. They help customers remember who you are and what you value in a pictorial representation. Your logo should communicate the spirit and nature of your business in an instant. Your logo should be considered the cornerstone of your brand.

Many assume a logo can be made for a few hundred dollars by anyone with a bit of graphic design experience. This is true, but you get what you pay for.

Businesses who accept cheap logos soon find that theirs looks like countless others, and does almost nothing to communicate the brand.

When creating a logo, it’s vital that it clearly reflects the brand as well as its goals. This may mean interviews with a variety of graphic designers. This thorough process ensures your brand looks professional, unique, and memorable.

Often times building a logo is not just about the image, but the use of colors and placement, that only a true professional can create.

First impression matters.

It’s important to make the right first impression with your customers. This means providing good customer service. Build a sales funnel, and offer avenues to your customers for after-sale service and general inquiries. A discount for making an online purchase is a good example of an effective after sale service.

Your first impression builds a set of expectations and begins a relationship that accounts for a potential customer’s decision to choose your product or service over another. If you provide poor customer service the whole process of branding could lose traction.
